THE FACILITY

The Tennis Center is located at the Bellport Country Club just south of South Country Road on the north side of the Golf Course. The facility is managed by Glenn Nathan who sees to it that our five Har-Tru Courts are well maintained at all times. Glenn, who is a PTR professional provides tennis instruction and runs a very successful Junior Development Program. In addition, he coordinates a full schedule of events throughout the summer for the benefit of the membership, including special events, men’s and ladies’ doubles round robins, singles and doubles ladders, interclub matches as well as weekend member tournaments.

MEMBERSHIP 

  • Full season memberships are available at the Village Hall for both Village Residents and Non-Residents.
  • Residents must  provide proper identification upon application.
  • Members are entitled to free court time throughout the season.
  • Court time will be limited during scheduled tournaments and Round Robins. It will be suspended during afternoon Junior Development sessions and Kid’s Camp Tuesdays at 11 am during the month of July only.

Members are entitled to participate in all of the club events. Certain limitations are noted below.

SEASON: 

Full services are provided every day between June 1st and Labor Day, and on weekends only during May and September.

Courts open Mid-May through October

Courts Closed: November through Mid-May

HOURS: 

Daily 7 am to 8 pm

Prime Time Fixed Time Slots:

  • 7 am to 8:30 am
  • 8:30 am to 10 am
  • 10 am to 11:30 am

GUESTS:

During Prime Time, each Member may invite no more than one Guest who will be charged the appropriate Court Fee. Non members and Guest play will be limited to twice a month during the 8:30 am to 10:00 am time slot.

SIGN IN:

All players must be checked in by the Court Attendant prior to play. Court fees must be paid prior to play.

SIGN UP:

Book online two days in advanced or call 631-776-0859 between 8:00AM and 8:00PM and ask the Court Attendant to sign you up.  Non-members may not sign up in advance.

  • Between 8:00 am and 9:00 am courts may be booked directly online or by telephone, not in-person.
  • Note that court time may be requested two days in advance using the online booking system.  All requests will be processed and emails will notify everyone of the outcome of their requests at 8:00 am on the day prior to the play date.
  • For more information regarding access to the online booking system, please ask the Court Attendant.
  • Singles Play: 1 1/2 hours maximum (unless a court is free).
  • Doubles Play: 1 1/2 hours maximum during Prime Time and 2 hours maximum during non-prime time.
  • Junior members cannot book a court more than one hour in advance during prime time unless playing with an Adult member.
  • Court is forfeited after 10 minutes..
  • Habitual no shows will lose sign up privileges.

TOURNAMENTS: We follow USTA Guidlines

    • Sanctioned tournaments will be held on scheduled weekends throughout the summer. Depending on the number of participants, up to three courts will be utilized during Prime Time at the discretion of the Tennis Director.
    • Except for open tournaments, only Members will be allowed to participate in Sanctioned Tournaments.
    • However, at the discretion of the Tennis Commission and in conjunction with the Tennis Director, participation of Non-Members will be considered for Junior Development Personnel and Court Attendants if players are needed to “fill out a draw”.
    • Entry fees will be charged for Tournaments. The amount will be posted on the sign up  sheet.

JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Village of Bellport Tennis Center offers a tennis instruction program for children called Quickstart. Quickstart Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size.

The program is available as follows:

BEGINNERS, AGES 5 TO 7 –Introduction to tennis including basic grips, strokes, footwork and form.  Introduction to various court games using the latest teaching aids, including the new Quickstart Program.

Monday through Thursday                          1 pm to 2:30 pm                          $125 per session

ADVANCED BEGINNERS, AGES 8 TO 10 – Review of basics with a concentration on stroke development and hitting on the move.  Court games will be enhanced with the use of the Quickstart Program. Grouped by experience.

Monday through Thursday                          1 pm  to 2:30 pm                       $125 per session

INTERMEDIATE, AGES 11 TO 18 – More concentration on conditioning, instruction and drills.  The Quickstart Program will be used to teach strokes using various spins.  Instruction will also focus on stroke analysis, game play and singles & doubles strategy.  Placement by ability and experience.

Monday through Thursday                         2 pm to 4 pm                           $155 per session

ADVANCED, AGES 11 TO 18 – The program concentrates on conditioning, instruction and drills as well as singles and doubles strategy, point patterns and match play.  Placement by ability and experience.

Session 1 — July 10 to July 13

Session 2 — July 17 to July 20

Session 3 — July 24 to July 27

All registrations must be done at Village Hall, 29 Bellport Lane.  Late Registration fee: $10.
