From the Mayor

Welcome to the Village of Bellport. Come for a visit and find out why so many people never leave.
The Incorporated Village of Bellport is one of the most picturesque waterfront villages on the south shore of Long Island. Though the village is only 1.4 square miles in size it is large with amenities for its residents. The village has its own golf course, marina, and ferry to Fire Island, charming historic districts, shopping district and community center with a village green.
The village’s 18-hole golf course borders on the Great South Bay and boasts being one of Long Island’s original golf courses, established in 1899. The original design was by renowned golf architect Seth Raynor. In 2000 the village under the direction of environmentally sensitive golf architect Bill Love added some compelling features to the golf course. The latest upgrade for 2009, adds a state of the art wireless irrigation system and new equipment to better groom and care for the greens and fairways. If you want to become a member of a pristine golf course, the Bellport Country Club extends an invitation to you with its reasonable membership rates.
We enjoy a marina that offers berthing for resident’s boats and our own ferry, the Whalehouse Point that takes you to scenic Ho-Hum beach on the Atlantic Ocean. The marina, or dock as many of the residents call it, is a focal point to the Village. There is a tradition in the Village to circle the dock. If you ask residents why they do it, they respond, you just do it, sometimes twice a day. The view of a sunrise, a sunset or any other time of the day, makes this part of the charm of Bellport. There is also a small gem, Mothers Beach that is a favorite with parents and their children in the summer months.
Much of the charm of the village can be attributed to its historic districts, which includes 80 houses listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is our quaint and charming shopping district that welcomes you to Bellport. When strolling the sidewalks, you will find many unique shops, antique stores and art galleries, a historical museum and many up-scale restaurants. We encourage residents and visitors to shop locally. The shopping district offers all the stores that will meet your daily needs. In addition, an up to date community library, many medical services, churches, schools and a fire department also reside in the village. Bellport Village is proud to have a summer stock theater, the Gateway Playhouse.
The Village of Bellport, a destination for all seasons, you will not be disappointed.
