CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION AUGUST 7

The day was perfect — bright, sunny and warm. Events went on all day throughout the Village, starting with a wooden racquet tournament at the Tennis Center and ended with fireworks by the Grucci family.

The Tennis Center held a wooden racquet tournament complete with authentic tennis garb and white balls.

An old fashioned parade marched down main street from the Bellport Fire Department to the Marina.

Classic cars and trucks were displayed in the east park of the Marina.

Antique boats were on view around the dock including the Long Island Maritime Musem’s Oyster Sloop Priscilla.

Visitors enjoyed music by the Steel Band from The Boys’ and Girls’ Club.

A kite contest was held at Mothers’ Beach and prizes were given for best decorated, highest flying, and longest flying kite.

Everyone had fun at the sack races but the tug of war was the most popular event.

The Bake Off Contest featured scrumptious entries.

Mayor David Pate and Event Organizer Sherry Binnington display a mural painted earlier in the day by local children under the direction of John Dinaro.

South Country School Distict students submited entries for stamps commemorating the centennial. The winners are pictured here.

The Isotope Stompers closed the evening with a swinging set of dixie land jazz followed by a spectacular fireworks display by Fireworks by Grucci.
