March 25, 2013

  1. Call to Order, Pledge of Allegiance & Roll Call: Mayor Veitch, Trustee Vaughan, Trustee Terwilliger, Trustee Budny and Trustee O’Connor.
  2. Approve Minutes – February Meeting: Tabled for April 22nd (for clarification on resolution regarding approving Lee Snead for special counsel for Golf Course Concessionaire Negotiations). Motion made by Mayor Veitch 2nd by Trustee Terwilliger. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED
  3. Approve Payment of attached bills and allow treasurer to make necessary transfers. Motion made by Trustee Terwilliger 2nd by Trustee Budny. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED
  4. Open to Public (30 min.)
  5. Public Hearing
    1. Set Public Hearing for People with Disabilities less than 65 years of age a tax exemption. This was tabled from February meeting. Set for April 25th Board Meeting. Motion to TABLE FOR APRIL 22, 2013 MEETING made by Trustee Budny 2nd by Trustee Terwilliger. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED
  6. New Business
    1.  Resolution #14 for $2million BAN – see attached – motion made by Trustee Terwilliger 2nd by Trustee Budny. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED.
    2. Discussion of Master Plan Downtown Committee recommendation for Downtown Village Board (section 3 page 1).
    3. Discussion to change the Village code _____ “signs” to include option of flying flags in business district. Set Public Hearing if needed.
    4. Vote on the 2013 Summer Seasonal Employees. EVERYONE EXCEPT THE STARTERS AND FERRY CAPTAINS, Motion made by Trustee Budny 2nd by Mayor Veitch. Vote: Trustee Terwilliger – Yes, Trustee Vaughan – Yes and Trustee O’Connor – Yes. APPROVED
    5. Resolution #15 for the Village Clerk to hire 2 certified Election Inspectors (one will be head inspector) and 4 residents for the upcoming Village Election June 18th 2013. Motion made by Trustee Budny 2nd by Trustee O’Connor. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED
    6. Resolution #16 for a Discussion of forming a Business ARB – attached – Public Hearing set for April 22, 2013 to potentially create Business District Architect Review Board. Motion made by Trustee Budny 2nd by Trustee O’Connor. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED. reminder
    7. Kids camp Registration for residents Monday April 22 and Non-Residents Monday April 29th
    8. Resolution #17 to Approve the changing of the Marina sign at entrance. Motion made by Trustee O’Connor 2nd by Trustee Terwilliger. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED.
    9. Resolution #18 to vote for $300.00 lifetime member locker fee and $100.00 locker for the season. Motion made by Trustee Vaughan 2nd by Trustee Terwilliger. Mayor Veitch – Yes Trustee Budny – Yes Trustee O’Connor – No. APPROVED.
  7. Old Business
    1. Resolution #19 to Approve Registration Day will be June 8, 2013 at Village Hall from 9:00am – 12:00pm. Motion made by Trustee O’Connor2nd by Trustee Budny. Vote: Mayor Veitch – APPROVE Trustee Vaughan – NO Trustee Terwilliger – NO. APPROVED
  8. Open to Public
  9. Executive Session – To discuss personnel issues and legal matters. Motion made by Trustee Vaughan 2nd by Trustee Terwilliger. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED
  10. To come out of Executive Session motion made by Trustee Terwilliger 2nd by Trustee O’Connor. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED
    1. Resolution # 20 Authorize Dave Moran, Deputy Village Attorney, to draft a memo of understanding to the current concessionaire of the Grill Room to vacate the Grill Room as terms as follows; $170,000 payable over 10 years in equal installments and no reduction in rent going forward and also the Grill Room to remain closed during golf outings. Motion made by Trustee Budny 2nd by Trustee Vaughan. Vote: Trustee Terwilliger – Yes, Mayor Veitch – Yes and Trustee O’Connor – NO. APPROVED
    2. Resolution #21 Motion made to approve 4 starters at the Golf Course for the 2013 season made by Trustee Budny 2nd by Trustee Terwilliger. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED
    3. Resolution #22 Motion made to approve 3 Ferry Captains for the 2013 summer season motion made by Trustee Budny 2nd by Trustee Vaughan. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED
    4. Resolution #23 Motion to authorize Deputy Village Attorney, Dave Moran, to accept the tax cert payment with regard to Bill Bongiorno’s property. Motion made by Trustee Budny 2nd by Trustee Vaughan. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED
  11.  End Meeting motion made by Trustee Budny 2nd by Trustee O’Connor. Vote: all in favor. APPROVED


TREE REMOVAL
Station Road from North Street to South Street will be closed between 8 am and 2 pm on Monday, May 20, 2013 in order to remove trees damaged during Hurricane Sandy. Please plan accordingly.

 

SENIOR VAN
The Senior Van is available to take senior and disabled residents to appointments, to do some shopping or run errands within a 10 mile radius of the Village.  Contact John Stephani at 631-559-8863.

KIDS CAMP

Kids Camp runs from Monday, July 1 to Friday, July 26 and is open to both resident and non-resident children.  Eligible campers must have completed kindergarten through the 7th grade.  Children who have completed 8th grade and who are not yet 16 before June 1, 2013 are eligible for the Counselor-In-Training  (CIT )program.  Registration begins Monday April 22, 2013 for residents and the cost will be $220 per child. Non-resident registration will begin on Monday, April 29, 2013 and the cost will be $270 per child.  Registration is at Village Hall, 9 am to 3 pm.

 

BRUSH AND DEBRIS REMOVAL 

We would like to remind residents that all brush and yard debris must either be bagged or placed in trash cans for pick up.
